About me
Hello, my name is Shane Harms, and welcome to my journey in learning and experiencing the wonders of life.
One of my favorite things to do is to watch something on Youtube and try it for myself. I have learned so many things from watching and not being afraid to try. Failure is an opportunity.
I studied writing and psychology in school, and eventually moved to Seattle. My first job out of college was being a mushroom forager and delivery driver. I later started as an intern at the Ballard News-Tribune and worked my way into selling ads and freelancing. Later I became the lead reporter and website manager. I am also a licensed real estate broker in Washington State, but I have been spending most of my time as a freelance editor and researcher the last few years. I have also been a part-time bartender for most of my life, but I hung it up in 2018. All of these jobs have taught me so much about being human and learning. These experiences continue to inspire me and fuel my curiosity for the endless possibilities in life.
I am originally from Minnesota and grew up reading, paddling the lakes, and spending time in the woods. I come from a large family, so compromising, sharing, and understanding empathy, social dynamics, and emotion come naturally to me.
Other things I enjoy are abstract painting, playing guitar, woodworking, reading, creative writing, researching, foraging, and camping.
I currently live in Seattle, WA and Victoria, BC with my lovely and intelligent wife, Shanleigh, and our two cats, Mr. Strange and Cherise.
